Cost Awareness to Product Development
VariCost is a cost calculation module for the VariPDM product data management system. The module calculates the material and work costs for a product when the product structure in VariPDM contains the material costs for the lowest level components and the work costs for the lowest level assemblies.
VariCost also calculates the costs for a variant of a configurable product. The module generates a cost report as a PDF file. VariCost is an effective tool for a company of any size.
VariCost is flexible. The company-specific item types and their attributes for cost calculation can be defined without programming, and the cost calculation procedures can easily be modified to accommodate the company-specific data. If necessary, the product structures for cost calculation can be imported from an external system, such as CAD.
The generic functionality of VariCost can be adapted to the calculation of other numeric properties, such as the total mass of a product.
